The University of Venda uses a detailed Admission Point Score (APS) system to assess applicants. Each NSC subject grade is allocated a point value: for example, a Level 7 (90–100%) earns 9-10 points, Level 6 (70–79%) earns 7-7.9 points, and Level 4 (50–59%) earns 5-5.9 points. Only the best six subjects are considered for the APS calculation. For degree programmes, the minimum APS required is 26, with additional subject-specific requirements for certain courses. Diploma and certificate programmes have slightly lower minimum thresholds. International qualifications are benchmarked against the South African NSC, with conversion tables applied.
