How to Apply
I know online application portals can feel like a maze, but Univen keeps this one fairly simple if you take it step-by-step. Apply through the UNIVEN Online Application Portal, linked from univen.ac.za, and the application itself is free. You will need a South African ID or passport number, a working ten-digit cell number, and an active email address. Also have scanned copies of your ID, your grade 11 report, or your matric results ready to upload.
The application window for 2027 intake runs from 1 May 2026 to 26 September 2026. Once you have applied, you can track your progress on the Check Application Status page on the Univen site. Grab the 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus from the Univen prospectus page before you apply, it lays out every programme and requirement.

Know what you're applying for
Before you apply, work out what you're interested in studying and check whether you meet the entry requirements — it decides which programmes are worth putting on your application.
Documents you'll need
- Certified copy of your ID or passport
- Certified copy of your latest results (Grade 11 or matric, whichever you have)
- Academic transcript — only if you're a transfer student from another institution
- SAQA evaluation — only if you did your schooling outside South Africa
- Proof of residence — only if you're applying for a res spot
Don't forget NSFAS
NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) is a separate application from your university application, with its own closing date. Applying to University of Venda does not apply you for NSFAS — you need to do both.

Register with your ID number and contact details.

Add your certified ID and results, plus anything else the portal asks for.

Pay the application fee if there is one, and keep your reference number.
