The University of Fort Hare uses the Admission Point Score (APS) system to assess applicants for undergraduate courses. Each applicant’s Grade 12 subject results are allocated points according to a standard scale, with higher scores for better grades. The APS is calculated by adding the points from the best six subjects, excluding Life Orientation. Each programme has its own minimum APS requirement, which can range from 28 to 36 depending on the faculty. UFH may also consider additional criteria for competitive programmes, such as Mathematics or specific subjects.
