North-West University uses the Academic Performance Score (APS) system to assess student admission eligibility. The APS is calculated based on the best six subjects from the applicant’s final Grade 12 results, excluding Life Orientation. Each subject grade is converted to a point value, and the total determines eligibility for specific programmes. For international applicants, NWU provides detailed guidelines to convert foreign grades to the South African APS equivalent.
