UL uses standard best 6. Your best 6 NSC subjects are converted to APS points using the standard bands: 80 to 100% = 7, 70 to 79% = 6, 60 to 69% = 5, 50 to 59% = 4, 40 to 49% = 3, 30 to 39% = 2, and 0 to 29% = 1. Life Orientation is excluded from the core APS total. UL keeps the calculation straightforward, but health and science programmes still need the right subject mix.

UL sits in Polokwane and is known for making higher education possible for a lot of first-generation varsity students. It’s a solid choice if you want a real degree without the pressure of super high APS cutoffs.
UL has on-campus and off-campus res options. If you want a spot in res, apply as early as possible. Campus life is what you make of it—there are sports, societies, and support for new students, but you’ll need to actually join in.
