CAO manages the first application step for many KwaZulu-Natal universities. Keep your CAO number safe from day one.

    Go to the CAO website and register

    Start at cao.ac.za and create your applicant profile.

    Complete one CAO form for all your choices

    Enter up to six programmes across the participating KZN universities.

  3. 3

    Upload your certified documents

    Submit your ID and Grade 11 results through the CAO portal.

  4. 4

    Pay the CAO administration fee

    Budget about R250 so your choices can be processed.

Fees & funding

The CAO fee covers your application submission, but NSFAS and residence applications still happen separately with each university.
