How do I check my NSFAS status?
Log in to your myNSFAS account at my.nsfas.org.za and open the Track Funding Progress tab to see your status. You can also check on the NSFAS WhatsApp line (063 093 5671), the USSD code *120*67327#, or by calling the toll-free line 0800 067 327. Have your ID number ready.
Three ways to check your status
On the myNSFAS portal
- Go to my.nsfas.org.za and click myNSFAS.
- Log in with your ID number and the password you set when you applied.
- Open the Track Funding Progress tab to see your current status.
On WhatsApp or USSD
- Message the NSFAS WhatsApp line on 063 093 5671.
- Or dial the USSD code *120*67327# from your phone.
- Have your ID number ready when you message or dial.
By phone or email
- Call the NSFAS toll-free line on 0800 067 327.
- Or email info@nsfas.org.za with your ID number and full name.
- Lines are busiest just after applications open and around payment dates.
What each NSFAS status means
Application Submitted
NSFAS has received your application. Nothing more to do yet.
Filtering
NSFAS is checking your details against records like SASSA and Home Affairs.
Validation
Your ID and personal details are being confirmed with Home Affairs.
Evaluation
Your household income and eligibility are being checked.
Verification
NSFAS is confirming the documents and information you gave.
Provisionally Funded
You qualify. Funding is confirmed once you register at a public university or TVET college.
Signing of Agreement
Sign your NSFAS bursary agreement (online) so payments can start.
Payments
Your allowances are being paid. Check the amounts and dates on the portal.
Rejected or Unsuccessful
You did not qualify this time. You can appeal within 30 days on myNSFAS.
Status names can change year to year. The order above is the usual flow. Always trust what your myNSFAS account shows.
