NSFAS status check 2027

Log in to your myNSFAS account at my.nsfas.org.za and open the Track Funding Progress tab. You can also check on the NSFAS WhatsApp line (063 093 5671), the **USSD code *120*67327#, or by calling 0800 067 327**. Have your ID number ready.

It means you meet NSFAS's money test, but your funding is not final yet, usually because NSFAS is waiting for your results or for you to register. NSFAS's own website now uses Approved and Eligible for a bursary instead. Register at your public university or TVET college as soon as you are accepted.

For 2027, the Minister said successful applicants will hear in December 2026. In the last cycle, applications closed on 15 November 2025 and NSFAS released outcomes from 15 December 2025, finishing by 31 December 2025. First-time students may wait longer if NSFAS still needs their final results or proof of a place. Check your status every week or two rather than every day.

You can appeal on myNSFAS within 30 days of your outcome, with documents that show why the decision should change, such as a retrenchment letter, UIF proof, a death certificate or a medical report. University students are paid through their university, so check with its financial aid office. TVET students are paid into their own bank account, which they capture and verify on myNSFAS. NSFAS no longer uses the old NSFAS card. If a payment is missing, contact your institution's financial aid office first.
