Life Orientation is excluded, and so is any subject you scored an achievement level 1 in (below 30%). TUT is the only university here that throws out a level 1 subject entirely, so a single very weak mark does not drag your total down: it simply is not counted.

TUT started in 2004 when three technikons, Pretoria, Northern Gauteng, and North-West, merged into one institution.

Campus and residence

TUT runs campuses in Pretoria, Arcadia, Arts, Ga-Rankuwa, and Soshanguve North and South, plus campuses further out in eMalahleni, Mbombela, and Polokwane. There are also distance education service points in Cape Town and Durban for select diploma programs.
