How does Rhodes calculate APS?

Rhodes uses percentage-divided aps. Rhodes converts each of your best 6 eligible subject percentages into a decimal score by dividing by 10, then adds those values together. Life Orientation is excluded. Because Rhodes uses decimal points, an 81% and a 89% do not collapse into the same value the way they do on a simple 1-7 scale.

Does Rhodes include Life Orientation in APS?

No. Life Orientation is excluded.

Rhodes uses the standard 42-point style approach based on your best 6 subjects excluding Life Orientation. In practical terms, that makes it much easier to compare with universities like UP, UJ, and NWU than with UCT or Wits. The real difference usually comes from course demand, not the APS formula itself.
