Which exams Grade 10 writes
Papers here are grouped by sitting, so this is what each one means.
- NovemberTerm 4
- The end-of-year examinations, set provincially.
- May/JuneTerm 2
- The mid-year examinations, written in May and June.
What Grade 10 is for
Grade 10 is where your matric subjects start. The subjects you chose at the end of Grade 9 are the ones you will write in your final exams, so this is the year you find out how well they suit you.
The work itself is the foundation. The trigonometry and functions you meet in Grade 10 are the same trigonometry and functions that carry marks in the matric paper, just asked more simply.
So the mark you get on a Grade 10 paper is not really the point. The point is finding out which basics are shaky while they are still quick and cheap to fix.
